Skylight Ventilation – Venting Components for Roof Skylight Systems
Ventilation components are used to introduce airflow through roof skylight systems while still allowing natural light into interior spaces. Ventilated skylights are commonly installed in areas where heat, moisture, or stale air can build up, such as bathrooms, kitchens, laundries, and upper-storey living spaces.
Ventilation systems may be integrated into the skylight dome assembly or installed as part of a vented skylight base configuration. These systems allow warm air to escape through the roof opening while continuing to protect against rain and external debris. In many installations, ventilation helps reduce heat buildup and condensation within the skylight shaft and roof cavity.
Ventilated components are typically selected to suit specific skylight bases, roof profiles, and dome styles. Because skylight designs vary by manufacturer and installation method, ventilation components are not universally interchangeable between different skylight systems.
In addition, ventilation parts are often replaced independently when existing venting mechanisms become damaged, brittle, or incompatible with updated roof materials. This allows existing skylight systems to retain airflow functionality without replacing the full skylight assembly.
