Factors That Will Vary Skylight Prices

Pitch of the roof

Skylight cost may vary from home to home. Some homes may have a high pitched roof, to the point where harness equipment is necessary, and this can influence the cost of the skylights installation. In most cases we are lucky in Brisbane as we generally do not see roof pitches over 45 degrees. The main reason for this is that snow fall is not an issue in our tropical Queensland climate. With smaller roof pitches, comes smaller roof cavities, which is also a major dictator of price when it comes to skylight installations.

Size of the ceiling cavity

In cases where the roof cavity is large this will also influence the price of your skylight installation. Obviously this cavity size is dictated by the pitch of your roof. So again the slope of your roof is a major factor of skylight price variation. Most skylight companies offer a standard amount of shafting material with each skylight kit sale. Usually the standard length supplied is between 1.2m – 1.5m. So if your roof cavity is greater than this amount then extra skylight shafting material will have to be installed. This will also have an influence on the skylight cost.

Ventilated skylight required

In some cases the chosen room for your skylight will require ventilation. In most cases this will be dictated by building codes and not the installation company. For example if you are looking to have a skylight installed in your bathroom, and the bathroom has no windows, then by law we are obliged to install a ventilated skylight.
